Throw Away (Pigments)

Tidying up as we go along. We have been working towards deeper practical respect for the source and destination which bookend our design practice. With this in mind, during the first lockdown, when we were forced into a position of greater locality, we have endeavoured to take steps towards reduced chemical input, reduced distance and increased locality to the 'ingredients' of our clothing. Using what is close by and going to waste. Working with a cafe a short walk away, we sourced food waste from their daily activities and worked to develop colour from these potential 'throw away' pigments. Working with a silk linen, we had purchased 500 meters of, which had been abandoned by a wasteful fashion industry infrastructure from a close-by factory. These two 'wastes' combine into soft hues of golden blushes into a 'new' new.
